I have been interested in art since I was a child. When I was 18, a friend of mine introduced me to oil painting in Acapulco, Mexico. At that time, I was working in a small screen-printing company, where I became a master at my job, and I also learned to paint professional signs by hand. Though I had little time to paint, I always kept alive my dream to become a professional fine artist.

In 2000, I left Mexico and came to Atlanta, determined to follow my dream. After learning English, I took several classes in drawing, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic and oil. I think it was kind of a deal with me and oil. I love the medium, its versatility, its richness and the smell of turpentine! In 2013, I became a member of the Atlanta Artist Center. Since then my painting has improved, thanks to the advice from other artists and my own goal to create new works for AAC’s monthly juried exhibitions. I make time to paint every day.

I call myself a progressive artist. Even though I do not like cell phones or computers, I find beautiful things in this technology and the social media so prevalent today. My paintings speak about progress and things that are happening around me. I admire impressionism, abstract expressionism and many of the living masters today, and I have learned from all of them. I believe that the heart and soul are nourished by imagination, creativity and freedom and the strong desire to succeed.
